Road Trip (part 2)

After my brother’s All Star game, he had to take a bus with a few of his other teammates that made the All Stars and move onto to Springfield, Missouri to join the rest of his team for the series they were starting the next evening. We then went back to the hotel and went to bed…we were exhausted from all the excitement! Needless to say, CJ loved seeing his Uncle Zach play baseball. It was so cool and something I don’t think any of us will ever forget and it’s great to have the pictures to look at later on.

The next morning we went to a great little breakfast place recommended called the Blue Dome Dinner. It was a short walking distance from the hotel and such a neat little place. When you walked in you saw a typical style dinner with eclectic tastes. The front room had tables and old green leather booths, the walls we exposed brick and had a variety of different artists work, and the vibe was extremely friendly with music playing. The back room was set up with tables, a stage, and similar decor. For breakfast the servings were enormous. The boys ate pancakes that were mouth watering. I had a veggie egg dish that had asparagus, zucchini, summer squash, peppers, carrots, cheese, and egg … it was the best egg omelet scramble that I’ve ever had!! It also came with french toast that was just as awesome. Mom had the same egg dish with a mouth watering biscuit, and hubby ate a sausage and onion omelet that was just as awesome. We all left happy with full bellies talking about how good their food was. The service was great too – super friendly and inviting. If you ever go to Tulsa, Oklahoma make sure you eat breakfast at the Blue Dome Dinner!!!!

After breakfast we went back to the hotel, Neal took CJ swimming, I attempted but the water was too cold for me and Calvin, so we went back to the hotel room and continued to get ready.

(On a side note, Cal had been crawling around the hotel room and the tops of his feet and knees were getting extremely dirty. This was the second day and it continued, it was really gross and shouldn’t be like that so I went down to the front desk and complained. They asked if we wanted a room change, but we were only there one more night so I didn’t take them up on that because it was more hassle to do that. So they then said that I’d see a credit in the bill…and I did. Moral of the story if you don’t feel you are getting the service or quality you paid for do something about it!!!!)This is how dirty he was getting…

Once we were all packed we took stuff down to pack up the car. CJ had the best seat in the house for this!!!

Then we were off for almost 3 hours in the car and Mom drove. This is all we saw when driving…

It wasn’t bad at all but Springfield, Missouri had the National Cow Convention going on so we weren’t able to get a hotel room so we decided to leave after his game that night and drive straight through again. CJ was excited to go to another of Uncle Zach’s games and we were lucky that he got to catch again!! Woohoo! CJ was extremely excited that this ballpark was doing fireworks too….2 nights in a row of fireworks lucky boy!

After the game we started the journey home again from Missouri. We drove straight through the night and even the next day all we saw were farms and flat lands, until the green mountains of Pennsylvania. We stopped as needed. The last hour home Cal had enough and was frustrated, so needless to say it was good to be home when we arrived. The trip was amazing a something we’ll never forget!!! It was so cool getting to see my brother and well worth it. Would I do it again… YES!!!!!!! I wouldn’t hesitate!!!
