CJ’s 5th Superhero Birthday Party

Major Success!!!

I was a little worried how I would handle 16 kids and parents in our house for the party due to rain, but even with the chaos, it was successful.  Everyone had a blast!  The capes were a major hit and the parents ended up doing most of the mask decorating since the attention was on the kitten, but it went well!!  Not to mention, the jetpacks were also a major hit!!!  As for the cupcakes and cake, I wasn’t sure if I was going to have enough time to decorate them since it was a super crazy busy week at work and all of my free time went to making the jetpacks and capes, but I managed to do it Saturday morning after tball thanks to a great suggestion from my mom!  She suggested I use the cupcake picks instead of piping designs on each one, definitely easier to pipe one color and use sticks.  So after CJ’s 9am tball game I went to iParty looking for picks and they didn’t have any superhero picks….so I improvised.  I knew I had plenty of tooth picks at home, so I bough stickers and made double sided picks by using a tooth pick in the middle and two stickers stuck together to create my own themed picks!!  Awesome easy creation!!!  At then end when it was all over, CJ kept thanking me and hubby for the awesome party that he had so much fun at!  I would say all the time, craziness, and having to clean the house again after everyone left was well worth it!!!  I also have to thank my best friend for staying and helping me pick up the playroom, that was so helpful and I would not have gotten it cleaned up that night….I would have put it off till the next day.  So thank you!  And thank you to all who helped make CJ’s party perfect!!!  We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family.

New habitat!

This summer CJ for his first hermit crab when on vacation and now we have upgraded to a much more awesome habitat with additional hermit crabs. Hermit crabs are much easier to tend to than fish so I am not complaining! Plus the boys love them!!! Their smiles are worth it!!

First spring swim lessons!!

CJ was so excited for swim lessons today! He did so awesome and I was so proud with how well he listened!! He is definitely going to be a fish this summer am even said he wishes he had swim every day!! I love my little super hero gliding floating fish!!!

Our Hero

Every night when my husband goes to work, I always say I love you and to be safe.  This has become my mantra with being married to someone who is in Law Enforcement…so much so that even our 5 year old always tells his Dad to be safe if he is awake when his daddy is going to work.  I feel that it gives me some peace of mind.  It’s definitely not easy, but as a wife of an officer you learn to have a thick skin, if not for your sake but for your children’s.  You know how dangerous their jobs are, but you don’t want to admit it.  As a wife, or any partner of someone in Law Enforcement, it is also equally as hard to hear everyone’s negative comments about those in the field, yet another thing you learn to become immune to.  So as we build up our thick skins and keep those we love as “Heroes” in our children’s eyes, it is extra special when they are actually honored as a “Hero”.  My husband whom I am so proud of, was honored as a Red Cross Law Enforcement Hero.  It was a great breakfast and honor for him and his fellow officer, who ran into a burning building to pull out a man trapped inside.  They were truly heroes this night, and are every night.  They are those that ensure we are remaining safe.  I am truly honored to call him my husband and am so grateful the boys have him as their dad!  Congrats honey!

How does one help in the a.m.?

Being a working mom and having my husband work opposites shifts makes the morning routine my job. It also makes times difficult if I have either of the boys in bed with me because all I want to do is snuggle them every chance I get. Yet, if I have to wake up the oldest, it can definitely be a battle. I will take all the help I can get. Now that my little guy is learning more he decides to help. This particular morning he decided to help wake his brother up!! This is how…
